Leadership Integrity Ideal
Building on Personal and Relationship Integrity, Leadership Integrity is accepting our
responsibility to lead an organization (family to fortune 500) to fully understand and
believe a shared vision and to set goals and work in unity to make that vision a reality.
Heart
Developing personal integrity and relationship integrity are essential to the heart
component of Leadership. People you lead know if you are honest. Period. Many times
people you lead will not agree with what you do or say, but if you are honestly trying to
do what’s best for your group, they will trust you. If your relationships are strained, they
are not going to support your leadership no matter how much talent or skill you have.
An additional heart skill is critical.
- Group Good People know if you are doing things for the good of the group, or
you have "personal motives". It's OK to want to advance personally, but reaching
your goals while in a leadership role must be done with unity and cooperation from
others, not by "stepping on" them.
Head
- Group Vision One of the key elements of leadership is to be able to see, share
and implement a better future. People will follow you if you can clearly...
- See and deeply feel a better future.
- Articulate it so that others can clearly see and feel that future.
- Teach and inspire each individual how their role helps create that future.
- Create the unity to overcome obstacles to make that future a reality.
- Group Organization Because it is no longer just one, or one on one, constant
improvement in organization structure and operation is essential.
- Group communications Communications must be frequent and clear. Far too
often we communicate a vision to our organization and assume everything is
understood and remembered. Even if it was, does everyone still believe it? Are
they still inspired by it? Communication feedback is equally essential to know if
the vision is understood and believed, and if others know you are listening to them.
- Group goals The task of goal setting becomes exponentially harder, and
exponentially more important to keep the shared vision progressing toward reality.
Leadership Integrity
Hands
In our opinion, our role in the work of leadership is a "hands on servant". We need to know specifically what our
people need and to find a way to fill those needs. Skills your coach can help you develop in this servant role are:
- Delegation and Accountability Who is going to do what? Our work is to help each person clearly
understanding their role in the success of the organization and help them set goals to fill that role fully. Our
work is then to make sure that daily decisions follow the strategy through delegation and accountability. People
crave clear expectations and to be held accountable to those expectations.
- Processes How they are going to do it? The best people in the world can not be successful if processes are
broken. How does a new person in the group know what the processes are? How do you know what processes
are broken? Are you implementing individuals ideas? Your work is to continuously improve processes.
- Tools. Are you providing people the tools (equipment, training, etc.) they need to succeed?
Many of these concepts are common sense, but in our experience, far too often they are not common practice. The
unity and progress that can result from implementing these Leadership Integrity skills are remarkable. Contact Us to
let Integrity Peak provide you the Leadership Coaching to make the common sense common practice.
