Personal Integrity Ideal
Continuously improving our actions to be consistent with our values and goals.
Becoming who we know we should be, by doing what we know we should do.
Heart
Ask yourself, could one or more of the following steps be why I haven’t been successful
at change?  The following are steps to be taken from the heart:
  • Honesty  The first step is an honest evaluation of where you are compared to
where you want to be.  What is most important to you?  How do you get
completely honest with yourself to discover that?  Quiet meditation, a long hike,
talking with a trusted friend?   Start by going to that place.
  • Conscience  What is the most important change right now?  In your honest
place, your conscience will let you know.   Sometimes you can’t clearly see your
ultimate goal, but you can feel what the next step is.
  • Purpose   Now dig deeper and ask yourself why you want to change.  Your “why”
must be strong enough to see you through the “why-nots” that will surely come.
  • Commitment   Your goal is focused on creating a habit.  Are you willing to live
this habit the rest of your life?   If not, re-evaluate and set a new goal.  Now make
the promise to yourself and put it in your heart.  Your head can easily rationalize
the commitment away, but an honest commitment in the heart stays.
  • Faith   First believe in yourself.  Sometimes it is hard, but it is also a conscious
choice to believe.  If you are a religious person or believe in a higher power,
believe that your God will help you.  There is amazing strength in relying on God.
  • Obedience   Another major reason change efforts fail is that many of us think we
have all the answers.  Be humble enough to listen and obey.  Obey your
conscience on what to change, and obey your coach on how.
Head
  • Vision.   Sometimes we can't clearly see where we want to be in the future, we can only see what should be
done next.  That’s OK.  Our lives are about discovering who we really are.  Your coach can help you discover
those next steps and create that vision.
  • Specific Plan.  Your goals may be ultimate and long term, but then they must be broken down into short term
    specific, written and measurable goals.
  • Only One.   This is really important.  Our natural tendency is to want to change everything at once.  We
simply can’t change years of habits all at once.  A major key to change is focusing on only one thing at a time.
  • Time.  Our natural tendency is to want the change NOW.  We developed our current habits over a life time.
Realize from the beginning that it takes at least 90 days to break a habit or form a new one.  Constantly
remind yourself that it will take that long and that the other changes will get their focused turn later.

Hands
  • Morning Plan   Take 10 minutes and determine what specifically you are going to do today towards your goal.
  • Act   Do it.  Follow through with your plan.  If plan A does not work, try an equal plan B.  Keep trying.
  • Opposition  You know this won’t be easy.  You will fall.  That’s OK.  You only fail if you don’t get up again.
  • Nightly Accountability.  Take another 10 minutes and honestly evaluate your day.  Hold yourself accountable
in your head and in your heart.  Look for the evidence of progress of growing Peace.
  • Weekly Plan/Accountability.   Your critical weekly calls with your coach.
